Joe Salter

If anyone is going to Waverly Gun Show next weekend ask the guys that are working for him what he has for sale.
I don't think he will be there but his gunsmith and Dana Smith will manning his tables.

Joe will be starting a new web site in Canada to sell to the Canadian market. Watch for it,coming soon. He stopped shipping from the US to Canada last year.

Not necessarily a good thing, it will probably match his prices in the US, and jack up the prices in the Canadian market.

I think it would be great if he sold in Canada again. He may be in Waverly this weekend but its a long shot.

I wish he would publish pictures of some of the guns he has sold. He told me the person he has taking the pictures has gone through a number of cameras. Each time, just upgrading in order to improve the pictures.
The detailed pictures he has on his site are as good as the ones found in the book "Bolt Action Military Rifles of the World"

I have spoken to Joe Salter this morning concerning comments regarding sales in Canada. This is what he has to say. In regards to antiques located on his site in the US, he will ship them to Canada under the following : 1- that they are classified as antiques here and in the US and that 2- you obtain a letter from the proper authorities that they are indeed classified as antiques in Canada. The purpose of the letter is to avoid any problems with the shipment and Canada Customs.
In regards to modern firearms, they can be shipped to Canada under the following conditions- 1- you need a Canadian Import permit to bring it in. 2- there are export permits to acquire from the US and they cost the buyer extra. Unfortunately,One pays a Secetary of State export fee which is required.Once everything is approved, the firearm has to be forwarded to a licenced export dealer who will then ship it once everything is OK'd. Basically, inexpensively priced firearms, the cost of exporting them is prohibitive but for expensive firearms it is not a factor for the higher priced ones. The export permits apply to rifles and handguns but not to shotguns which are covered by a release from the Dept of Commerce.

In regards to a Canadian Site for modern and antiques, the plans are to have one in a couple of months for sales in Canada only.
As to the Waverly show, two of his friends will be selling for him as he cannot attend. Check out the tables.
Joe is looking forward to expanding his Canadian Business and hopes to travel to various Canadian Shows, renewing old friendships, meeting new collectors and firearms enthusiasts.

The guy goes to work with a parrot on his shoulder. Mind you, he's not selling junkers either. Serious antiques in amazing condition.
