I have a question for the experts.

John Wayne Commemorative 32-40 G9481JW, serial JW4###. It has never been shot and is still cradled in it's original packaging, has the manuals, tag on the trigger, and original sleeve.

I've been researching already, but would like some second, third, fourth opinions.

Hmmmm ..... based on what you have posted I'll take a wild guess and say what you have described is a "rifle" ..... ;)

(Or were you after something more specific, like an opinion or rarity and/or desirability ...... or perhaps even an estimate of value? Your post doesn't say ....)

Highest price i've seen on an unfired commemorative with the box, the tag, etc., in Canada was $1000 for the Alberta comemorative, and that was several years ago. Maybe somebody else will disagree but from what I've seen the prices and interest are both dropping off.

So, what's the question?
Or was that edited out by Can Can; 05-09-2013 at 07:31 PM?

Value?
I'll start the bidding at $25 :p

I bought one of the lower grade ones 4 years ago for $1200 Canadian. When I did my research they were selling for about $2200
U.S. in the states. Prices may have changed since then. The higher grade ones were a lot more, I can't however remember the actual
prices. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Titan. It does. At east now I know there are different grades and the like. I'll have to find exactly what I have. Do you have any resources as to how I can determine the grade for this rifle?

Dan, thanks for the input. Glad to see that you were able to figure out that I was talking about a rifle. I don't have any of the accessories and am working on trying to find out which grade of rifle it is.

The first one I saw was at the Paris gun auction and it went for $800 plus 10% buyer's premium plus 13% taxes, so just over $1,000.00
I liked the gun and wanted one so when one came up on the EE I picked it up for $1,000.

There was a Canadian version that was a 1000 piece run, the USA version was 49000 pieces. It should come with a poster as well. I bought one a few years ago thinking it must be one of the Canadian editions but it was not and returned to the seller. A pretty rifle to be sure and I thought it is a much nicer piece than any of the very collectable other commemoratives, like the Little Bighorn. FS

Thanks to all that have provided info! Even though I forgot to put that it was a rifle in my original post, most of you were able to figure it out based on the model and calibre that I put in. That's what I would expect from those that are experts. Thanks for putting up with a newbie. I'll let you all know what happens if/when I decide to sell it.

"...on a collectors site..." That the Winchester Collector's site? If so, those are U.S. values and have nothing to do with Canadian values.
"...how I can determine the grade for this rifle..." Go here. U.S., but it'll give you an idea. No W's. //winchestercollector.org/
As described by Todd is the only way any Winchester commemorative has any value. However, you still have to find a collector who wants one. They have proven to be one of the worst firearm investment series ever made. Too many of each type and there 's nothing special about any of 'em. Especially the .30-30 models. They're nothing but a prettied up Win 94. Most of 'em you can't give away.

Pm me when/if you wish to sell. I'll even drive up to get 'er.
I could use a road trip to Comox cause it's been a while.:)
