Johnson 1941

It looks like a Winfield Conversion, the Winfield Barrel from the 50's that sporterized Johnsons with a hunting barrel and a monte carlo stock. The Original Johnson Barrel should have a bayonet lug and a military sight, not a sporting sight.

Here's an old ad for one located in Canada, that was running for a while in the "For Sale Elsewhere" section of our Quartermaster Stores.

1941 JOHNSON Semi-Auto http://www.milsurps.com/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=310

The ad has since closed, but the seller's web site photos are still live.

I don't know much about these old girls, but this one seems really nice, albeit very freakin expensive. :D

One interesting thing about Johnson Rifles is that they were all assembled with mismatched numbers, unlike the K98 Mausers which were all matching numbers. If you see a Johnson with all matching numbers, it has been humped, and they do turn up in the States.
The factory log books still exist for the no prefix Johnsons in the Serial Numbers and you can find out when it was made, shipped and the numbers on the major components of the rifle when it left the factory, but if you have an A or B prefix in the Serial Number you are out of luck until the log books are found. You can get this info on the Johnson Forum.

Johnsons are awesome! I would own one for sure if I had the money.
I have a Garand already, and would love to have the Johnson too.

Are the Johnsons stopped to 5 rounds??

if so how do they do that. I am not very familiar with them, but I believe they originally held 10 rounds

Not to mention the mag is circular shaped

I have a Winfield Johnson, its not bad at all. The only thing they did to mine is took off the bayo lug and added a recoil pad, otherwise its original.

Built like a brick ####house, and extracts brass so hard that if you're standing to my right on the firing line, you're gonna git it!

Owned my '41 for a few years, still haven't shot it , afraid if something breaks ,i'd never get a part for her !( though NavyGunner keeps harrassing me to do it )--- bubba -fied is just not my cup o' tea!

Real nice rifle but where would you find a military front site and bayonet lug and a military rear site if you wanted to put it back into military configuration? The Johnson site in the states doesn't seem to have many parts for sale. Anyone know of parts for sale anywhere? If you want a shooter it is softer shooting than a Garand also eats any kind of bullet weight.

On the Johnson Forum, Contact Joseph Scott in Texas, he sells Johnson Rifle parts, Original and Repro. He had a website, but it's been down for a while.
