Johnson Rifle at Elwood Epps

Sold already in any event. In the day, many were done up this way and nice, chequered aftermarket stocks were available. This one had been heavily polished, reblued, barrel shortened, ramp front sight, sporting type rear sight installed. Sadly, it had a near perfect bore unlike so many unmodified rifles. Would have been a true labour of love to restore to spec and even then, the markings are so washed out from polishing and the cost of parts so dear (and almost unavailable), that it would not be worth the cost and effort.

Arrgghhhh......

Rough is to nice, they were very rough. A group of us bought up a dozen from Internatiomal, they were marked good, but there wasn't a decent bore in the bunch and most were beat to hell as well as rusty. At that time you could still buy new barrels from the Resourceful Scrounger in the states for $25 shipped (expensive for a milsurp in those days). a couple of the boys bought them and fitted them to their rifles which looked great on the outside. The rest of us just sold ours at gunshows as beste we could. As I recall they were hard to move.  :D bearhunter
