I'm looking at a revolver made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn, the model is called Western Six Shooter, .22LR, stag horn grips (probably fake), and it's made in Germany. This one is a stainless or nickel finish and in near mint condition. A good friend of mine owns it since new, so the history of the gun is entirely known.

I couldn't find much about the Sauer revolvers on CGN.
How good are they?
Are there quite a few of them around? Are they collectable/desireable?
How much are they worth?

Well, I ended up buying it, despite it NOT being the finish I thought it was. From what other people said these aren't bad guns. The majority of opinions (mainly from American sources) are very positive. Someone mentioned in another forum that Bob Munden once advocated for these guns.

I got the leather belt and holster with it.

The grips are indeed fake and quite ugly, so I will make new ones out of wood. The timing of the bolt left much to be desired, which caused wear marks on the cylinder of this 46-year-old gun. The bolt snapped up too early, such that it would strike the edge of the notch before settling into the notch and locking the cylinder. About 2 hours of gunsmithing on the kitchen table rectified this issue, but I will have to do some blueing to restore the cylinder.

Oh and I should mention that the trigger on this gun is absolutely fantastic. It's pretty much what others describe elsewhere.
