JR carbine 45 acp reliability?

I've heard bad stuff about the jr carbine 45 acp.

Can anyone give opinion on it? I am wondering if I should get 9mm or 45 jr carbine. My pov is why not get 45 if I* am getting a carbine. Not going to shoot that many rounds anyway so cost of rounds is a non issue.
 
I have a 9mm jr and it is very reliable. I really enjoy it. I have heard that the bugs are worked outta the new 45 jr's but that doesn't guarantee you aren't buying an older one. However jrc has excellent customer service so if you did end up with an older one I'm certain they would make it right.

There are a number of posts about the .45 JR carbine on this forum. The discussions are quite detailed and informative. They should help you make a decision. I have one and I really like it and shoot it a lot. It is a very accurate carbine. It has not been without it's issues however. At the same time JR Carbines have been very supportive and have addressed those issues. Once I got the latest (free) upgrade my carbine has been working flawlessly. I strongly suggest you check out those posts.
 
Everybody that owns a JR seems to be happen with them, same with Thureon owners, what made me go with Thureon was ease of cleaning, just 2 takedown pins like an AR, plus the Thureon uses an AR trigger group, not sure about the JR trigger.

Another thing to take into consideration is are you a righty or lefty, you can switch the bolt handle and ejection port on the JR for a lefty, you can't on a Thureon.

Do a search: JR .45 Carbine for the last 12 months. All the posts are there. BTW, the trigger is an AR trigger as are many of the parts for the JR. You can also buy conversion kits for them if you decide you would like to shoot in .40 or 9mm.

I like my JR in .45. I don't know anything about the Thureon so I can't say anything about them either way. I do see that they are going up $240 so that might affect your decision as well.
 
I just bought a new JR in .45 because I wanted something that shoots a bigger projectile and is switchable to a lefty rifle. I haven't shot it yet, so I don't know how reliable it's going to be. I wish the Glock 21 mag had a better anti-tilt feature on the follower...I can notice that just by playing with it. It already has the upgraded magwell, the larger buffer and buffer extension. Installed some Magpul Kool Aid (ACS stock, MOE grip), Defense Package ambi safety, and a Strike Fire. Also ordered the .45 flash hider from JR. Should be fun...
