Did the price on the Jr's go up, when I bought mine it was $899, without the scope. Or is the $50 bucks more for the scope?

A couple questions for the Wanstalls staff about mags for the 9mm JR Carbine...

Is the included mag an authentic Glock or aftermarket?

Any comment on how well aftermarket mags work in this platform?

I've been strongly considering picking one up for a couple months now. It sounds like a great concept on paper but in my research I've read about a few 'gotchas' that make me hesitate. Any comment on the overall reliability of the gun?

I am using both original glock and kci 10 and 30 round mags (pinned of course). No issues with either mag. I use JR in NRA 3 gun discipline and such fire about 500 rounds a week. The only issue I've had in the last 6 month is occasional in ability to rack the gun. It turned to be a loose screw in the charging handle. Other than that it runs pretty well.

Why anyone would buy a jr when thureon defence does it 10x better is beyond me.
My thureon is my favorite rifle ATM 2 pins push out and the solid machined upper and lower come apart just like an ar no plastic and takes drop in ar trigger components along with being fully compatible with all other ar accessories.
Or for only 200$ less you get have a jr made of plastic and a total b!tch to take apart and clean

I own a JR. Which parts do you think are plastic? The upper and lower blocks are aluminum. The handguard is aluminum. The buffer tube is aluminum and uses a standard AR carbine buffer. The barrel is steel. The trigger group is standard AR. The stock and grip are polymer/plastic, same as pretty much any other black rifle.

I wish people that have never seen/handled the JR would refrain from commenting on them. They are well made and have no more plastic on them than any AR.

Discussion is almost always a healthy thing in this industry (except when it's just a nasty dogpile as seen elsewhere on the internet)! We don't mind the back and forth most of the time. As seen above, the truth is usually brought up pretty quickly if mistakes are made. The JR Carbine has been on the market for a good long while now and has been shot and owned by thousands and thousands of Canadians at this point. It is easy to see they are a well-built product.

As said by posters in this thread, they are solid aluminum receivers and they use AR15 trigger packs, buffer tubes, and accessories. They are not plastic in any regard beyond their pistol grip and butt stock, just like almost any tactical rifle on the market today. They're a proven platform and a ton of fun -- and surprisingly accurate. The Thureon Defense also shares many of these qualities. It's easy to confirm that the JR Carbine AND the Thureon Defense are both good rifles with excellent construction and either one will be plenty of fun for pretty much anybody looking for a non-restricted semi-auto. We just happen to have a package deal on the JR Carbine at the moment with a Bushnell TRS-32, which comes to about $100 off the sticker price of those items on their own, so that's what happens to be a pretty great choice right now.

There's a lot of good guns out there, and the JR is one of them!

Cheers,
Daniel

That's a very diplomatic response to a very uninformed and inaccurate comment. I have a 9mm JR and it has functioned flawlessly right out of the box. The only advantage I see the Thureon having is more convenient takedown. 10x better - please. H:S: On top of that from a purely aesthetic point of view I think the JR is a better looking gun. Plus it's a fair bit cheaper than the Thureon which isn't a bad gun but but to claim there is a big difference between them is pure fiction.

Have they solved the problems with the 45 JR? Seems like it as they are running off shelves. I wanted the 45 and will buy one as soon as I am sure they are working. I'd buy this deal in 45 if it was available, it's 40 only, right? Great deal anyway!

These are available in your choice of 9mm, .40, and .45ACP.

The .45ACP JR Carbine only showed that issue on the first run -- all production since has been Revision 2 and has not had any trace of the extraction problems of the first run JR Carbine .45s. The JR Carbines in stock now are Revision 2 and do not show any problems at all.

Cheers,
Daniel

You obviously do not know what a JR carbine is. It's entirely made of metal. No plastic at all except in the grip and stock. And very very accurate. I'm hitting 200 yard 12 inch gongs with it. You must be smoking some good drugs there.

The deal is available in all three calibers?

The other thing. Hadn't thought of 3 gun. For self-defence I would prefer 45 acp, but what is the deal should one want to do 3 gun? What is the gamiest caliber?

I hope this deal lasts a while it sounds like a great Christmas present to my self.
