Im thinking about trading my cz858 on the jr cabine are they as fun to shoot as they look? I handled a used 1 and they felt solid but not sure if the 9mm will be as fun to shoot as my 858.

Would you rather pull the trigger 5 or 10 times before switching mags? Mine is twice as fun as my sks was for that exact reason. Never had an 858 to compare it to but I'm certain my mind wouldn't change.

ya 10 rounds would be nice and can use the same ammo as handgun is the other reason im thinking of the switch aswell as hating to have to clean the 858 after each use

I have both the CZ and the JR in 9mm and both feel similar in terms of solid. The CZ has a bit more hit but the JR is more fun with larger capacity.

I have a jrc in 40sw and a cz 858 in 762 with the B&T magwell adapter.

JRC pros/cons
Pros
Easy scope mounting
uses handgun ammo - will be easy to reload and cheap new
lots of rails for mounting other stuff if that's your thing (I just have a scope and magpul angled foregrip on it)
Not a lot of recoil
uses glock 22 mags - just put a deposit on a glock 22 - love that they can be used ingterchangeably
had issue with light strikes but jrc fixed with new fp and spring - runs like a top now
Looks kool - all black and scary
10 rounds at a time
ambi bolt handle and eject

Cons
Bolt handle sucks
needs locktite to keep receiver screws in and also for bolt handle
Minor pia to have to take stock off to clean
Prolly not much use for anything over 100 yds or so

CZ858 pros / cons
Pros
Surplus ammo is cheap usually, non-corrosive is not too expensive, but sometimes a little harder to find costs are close to the same as 40SW
B&T magwell uses LAR15 mags (total cost 250 to buy and have installed)
looks kool in a different way although I find the banana mags look comical, especially when pinned to 5 (glad I changed to LARs
prolly more use > 100 yds - less bullet drop
really simple to strip to clean

Cons
Using surplus corrosive needs a little extra cleaning - I use G96 nitro and a good scrub
not as easy to reload - often steel cased or berdan primers
Seem to end up changing lots of stuff to run it - grip, stock, etc
scope mounting is a pia
brass flies into space sometimes
has lots of little nooks and crannies when cleaning (gas holes, piston, piston seats, bolt etc)
No rails at all until you start adding
cost for mods - I've changed: magwell, pistol grip, buffer tube, stock, railed dust cover and I'm thinking it's still not finished.

They are both fun to shoot. If I really had to choose only 1 it would prolly be the JRC right now, but it wold be a pretty tough choice. Sending 10 rounds down with the CZ and LAR mags is pretty fun too.

The JRC kinda comes ready to go out of the box - just add optics if you want and you can run this thing. The CZ seems to be more of a mod "platform" in that you buy the gun and then start changing stuff almost immediately, but once you have it the way you want it's fun. Honestly the CZ will end up costing more money if you start modding.

If I had not done the magwell, I think the edge would def go to the jrc.

Why trade - save some more money and have both ;)
