now, there is a rifle I would absolutely throw down a pile of cash for
be fun to build a knock off but I've lost my desire to waste time endlessly hunting down authentic parts LOL

So I take that they are prohibited? I saw them for $1300 US I think, if one would import them receiverless as a part kit , should they fit on a Garand receiver or a m14 receiver?

no idea on any of those questions man.
I don't pay much attention these days to the gun scene so only found out about these from this very thread LOLZ
that said, I'd buy one if they were importable and non restricted.

If you can find a parts kit, talk to IRG and inquire.
I can't think of a reason why a parts kit couldn't be brought in like Wolverine did with the IDF M14 kits, but I'm guessing it'd either have to be receiverless or atleast a chopped receiver.

As for M14 or Garand, M14 would be easier to modify than converting a Garand to take box mags.

Garand. The BM59 was designed to be a conversion so that the Italians could use the existing M1 stockpiles and I think about 100,000 M1s were indeed converted to BM59s. Eventually of course they were made from scratch.

There is a substantial difference in the legal status of the M14 vs the BM59. M14s were prohibited only because they were full auto, so importing a parts kit without a full-suto receiver leaves no legal basis for prohibition. But the BM59 is prohibited by name, so that parts kit may well be viewed differently by the CBSA.
