About the S&W 3000, you can trace its direct lineage to the Remington 870.
It was redesigned and manufactured at Howa Gunworks in Japan, if I recall well.
They took a very reliable design and built from that.
They changed some parts like the ejector and cartridge blocker which are essentially riveted spring steel parts on the 870 by spring-loaded and pivoted machined parts, increasing the reliability factor.
Too bad, there's not a lot that can be interchanged between the two shotguns.
Some aftermarket parts can still be used like side-saddle cartridge holders or barrel clamps but I would be surprised if anything else could fit. Even the thread at the end of the magazine tube is different in length and, I guess, pitch.
But I can say I was very lucky to see that ad just in time!
