Just finished a rebuild of my June 44' SA M1 that I bought from the CMP North Store in Ohio. It started as a Danish return rack grade less wood. All USGI parts except for the follower rod which was BMB. It is now all correct for the SR#, except for the barrel which was shot out. It looked more like a .30 cal. shot gun barrel than a rifle barrel. I installed a real nice 54 SA barrel with a good bore and it should be a good shooter. I'll find out for sure on that this weekend. Put the action into a spare stock set and she looks pretty nice. Hope you enjoy the photo's.

That's too bad... as I happen to have a spare (4-44) April 44 barrel in my barrel bin. Before I "ran" up to the gun room to check the barrel date, I got sweaty palms thinking of the deals we could have made.... hee hee. By the way, nice looking rifle you have there. For some reason, out of the 10 rifles and 4 receivers I own, only one of them is a Springfield....
 
Recently had a chance take my new completed SA M1 out for spin at the range. After a few rounds to adjust the front sight with zero windage at the rear I fired her up with a sling in the prone position. Like most of my rifles it's a better shooter than me. Looks good, runs good and is pretty accurate too.

Good shootin' I also have a 1944 SA M1. I have not had the time to shoot it yet but I will. Mine is all original and has very nice walnut furniture. Very few dings . I can't get over how these big rifles balance and carry. I am going to take mine caribou hunting late this fall.
