I have aquired a badly sporterized no4 mk1 with a shortened barrel and cut down forestock. I would like to convert it into a mock no5 jungle carbine, but i cannot find a conversion kit other than the one offered by numrich, which has been out of stock for quite some time. I have contacted the company and they are unsure if or when they will be getting in new stock. Any advice into how i could aquire this kit would be much appreciated.

That's the only source of a kit I have ever heard of. Last time I looked they listed separate component parts, do they have those in stock?

They have suddenly become scarse. I was able to buy the reproduction sets from Numrich up till recently. Even when in stock, they are now prohibited from shipping outside the uS. That is US law, not Canada. Sarco used to have the sets but are out of stock. I do believe that it is the flash hider that is prohibited.

The forend from the Numrich kit is a bit shorter than the original Jungle forend.

I once made a repro from a normal No4 forend which had the front buggered up; kept the metal cap from the No4 forend, which I cut in half to mimic the Jungle front cap - which I attached to the shortened forend, thus making it as long as the original. Bit of work but looked decent.

I saw someone selling a Jungle Carbine flash hider on eBay described as a muzzle brake, since apparently muzzle brakes aren't prohib to ship out of USA.

Really nice rifle! How did you relocate the front sight band to fit the larger diameter berrel profile?

Filed it out till it went pretty close then drove it to where about's I wanted it. Marked it, slid it off, filed a grove for the cross pin and used emery paper to pilish for soldering.

Slid it back in place, pinned it then soldered soft it

I have a nice looking #5 butt plate. The rubber has turned creamy/off white in a couple place's but it's pretty nice looking.
