I've had 4 Jungle Carbines over the last 30+ years, never more than one at the same time. My latest one is in superb condition, but the front sight blade is the thinnest front sight I have ever seen on ANY rifle! I'don't recall the others being so thin. Can't see it on a 100meter 8" bull, barely visible on the white part of the target at 100, I have corrected 20/20 vision and shoot iron sights at that range all the time, no problem.

1-Am I just getting old or do the sight blades vary that greatly in JC's
2- Can I get a replacement sight or should I jerry rig something? black tape wrap ? or?, that's not cool, that's blind man shades!

The front sight blade came in various heights, but not widths - I think you should get a replacement (easy to find), Should start by getting the same height; you can find which that is by looking from the top, down on the blade - it's stamped in really tiny numbers. (with a "+" or "-" sign too).

here are the numbers

my old Lee III, 1919 front sight width about 0.068"
my Jungle Carbine No.5 Mk1 (f) 4/47 has written on front sight F 045, measures about ( can't get caliper inside front sight wings) about 0.05". That sound right? Compared to what I see for sale on EE I may just not shoot either of them at all, they look too valuable!? Gobsmack myselff:P:2:
