With regards the "Precision rifles exchange" section, what's with the huge amount of 338 calibre rifles for sale???? Are guys buying these and then deciding they're too much rifle for fun shooting or what???? Just can't figure the large volume of this calibre available all of a sudden?

could be alot of things.....cost of ammo....the TAX man...or just want a new project

I have 3 do you want one of them. They are a lot of rifle and even with a brake, 50 rounds of 300gn bullets at 3000fps takes a toll on you. That and the price keeps round counts down.

Last spring did buy a brand newTRG 42 338LM all the reloading stuff related to that caliber, shot a max of 80 rounds and just quit using it as i find it to powerfull for range use and to heavy for hunting, it is sitting in the back of the gun safe and i have no intent of using it, sometime in life you buy stuff and realise it was not for you... JP.

I think people have big eyes and want the biggest and baddest rifles out there. Then get scared on just how big and bad them rifles actually are. Shot a 30-06 and didnt like it at all lol ill stick to 308 lol

I guess a 308 man will stay a 308 fan, this caliber is very addicting including all off it's offsprings... JP.

As a relatively new owner of a 110BA in .338LM, I really enjoy the rifle at long ranges. Its heavy, and braked which makes recoil very mild for the caliber.. I have a remington 7600 hunting rifle that would make Paul Bunyun say "pass the Lapua please" ...
Its very enjoyable to shoot steel at long range for high accuracy, but for anything closer, or shooting paper, a .223 is so much more economical, not to mention very polite to shoot all day.

Good responses! Everyones reasons are different of course....I just found it odd today as I took a quick look thru the ads and realized there was a boat load of 338s posted!

lots of people need the fancy big boy toys, then realize you really gotta pay to play with em, for the cost of shooting my .338, 50 times, i can take my .223 out and shoot 150+ times depending on what iv got loaded for it. some people are caliber preferant, some dont wanna pay the coin, next month it will probably be a #### ton of .223/308 for sale cuz every one will want the big toys

I may eventually get one but have avoided it when I figured out the cost of shooting one. Now I am going the other direction and getting small guns. A lot of the time they are more fun to shoot and a lot cheaper to do so....
