Just a thought before we go posting dressed weight of our deer...please do not estimate, put it on a scale at a local butcher shop and take picks of the deer on the scale and the scale showing the weight...cause we should all remember...what the current largest recorded weight is...

This does not refer to antler weight or Boone and Crockett...just a field dressed deer...

In November, 1926, Carl Lenander Jr. dropped a monstrous Minnesota buck with a single shot. The field-dressed deer weighed 402 pounds. Conservation Department officials estimated its live weight at 511 pounds. No heavier white-tailed deer has ever been recorded.

Remember some of us live in the part of the country blessed with MONSTEROUS whitetails and Mule Deer...we all dream of a 350lb whitetail but what are the odds if the current world record is 402 lbs field dressed...

We all have taken big deer...my wifes 2009 Whitetail has a real nice body...but he wasnt no 250lbs...

Happy Hunting Everyone...

The young buck I shot last week was field dressed at 155. Nice eating deer but nothing at all even close to others we've shot. So far the biggest one was gutted skinned no head and legs cut off at the knee's it weighed 192. I have no clue what it would have weighed alive but I can say my father and I never want to try and drag a big one like that one again. And they don't taste as good as the younger deer. I never guage my deer by the rack they have, but by how good the meat tastes

The buck I shot in 1993 weighed 210 LBS carcass weight. That is hanging in the cooler, cut in 1/2's wrapped in a cloth shroud. That was the biggest whitetail I have seen. Two years later I shot a buck that field dressed at 245 lbs from the same area. I can't even imagine a whitetail at 400 lbs.

I have never weighed a field dressed deer, but we did keep track of some of the weights of completely dressed deer when we dropped them off at the butcher. Our heaviest deer with no hide,no head, legs cut off at the knees,no guts, was 200 lbs even, with a few more in the 170s and 180s.I did weigh one of my deer before it was field dressed, and it weighed 330 lbs.It weighed 176lbs at the butcher shop, before the butcher began cutting.

I shot a mule deer in 1968 that hanging at the butchers without guts, hide and head, weighed 276 lbs. Largest bodied deer I have ever shot by a good margin. Have taken three in the 200-215 lb area, and lots at 135-175 lbs. Eagleye.
