i like to build scale models. right now i'm finishing up a 1:72 fw 190A3. i'll post some pictures because it looks pretty smart for being my first model in probably...well...a long time.
those of you who have read about the Waffen SS know that Himmler had pretty lofty aspirations for his divisions. one of them included the SS fielding their own air force, complete with "nazi planes" which were somehow supposed to embody the ideals of the third reich. my interest is more about existing german aircraft like the above plane, or a bf109. any of the successful single seat fighters, and what they might have looked like under SS command. insignia? would they have the standard german cross? or the SS runes in place of crosses, with the swastika remaining on the tail fin?
anyone with some input please put in! i want to make a "what if" model of an SS fighters, maybe a 262, cuz i havn't made one before. i don't know where to start but i have some ideas forming.
