So my tax return gets here the other day and the first thing that comes to mind is of course 'buy another gun'. So a friend and I head to the local gunshop and I start looking at bolt action .223s while he browses the rimfires. When I realized that all the nice .223s were out of my price range my friend suggested "why not get two .22s, buy 500 rounds and we'll go plinking all afternoon?" I caved right then. I told the guy at the counter that I wanted two rimfire repeaters, stainless on black and as cheap as possible. The first rifle he showed me was the Mossberg 702 Plinkster. At first I was sceptical. It's small and really light, the stock is kind of weird at the front and it's a Swedish designed rifle with 'Made in Brazil' stamped on it (which I have yet to look into). But the price was right ($199) so I bought both, and had scopes mounted. We took them out to our plinking spot and must have put 200 rounds through both within an hour. I have to say I'm impressed. There were zero malfunctions and they were very accurate for mediocre shooters. The detachable magazine was nice, but I'm dissapointed that I can't get the 25 or 50 round 10/22 mags.
I'll post some shooting pics next time we go out but here's a couple pics of the rifles.
