I just bought a really nice BL22 G1 in mint condition. No dings in the wood and perfect shiny Blue. In fact, it looks brand new!
However, there are a couple of unusual things I have found.
The bore matches the rest of the condition of the rifle except that the rifling looks very feint. Is this normal. My other .22's have distinct rifling.
The breech end of the barrel has heavy chamfers vertically either side of the bore (for bolt clearance no doubt), but the edges look very sharp and there are brass shavings in the action. I will strip it and maybe do a little careful stoning.
Trigger feels "gritty" on the take up (maybe just needs stoning and a clean).
Hammer spring is very heavy compared to other levers I have tried. I guess this is normal though.
Can I tell the date from the serial number?
Overall, very happy with the gun which came with a basic 3x9 Bushnell scope fitted. Looking forward to printing on paper this weekend and will follow up with a picture of the target.
