Just bought a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Kit, need help

Dogleg is correct the Chargemaster is not fast, that's why I have two............With two there is virtually no wait time and they will keep you busy enough that there isn't enough time to use three...........or I would have three........

That's why I reprogrammed mine. Plenty of internet tutorials on how to do it. For .308, it dispenses the charge during the time I need to seat the bullet and take a quick look at runout. Most times it's done right after I'm done seating the bullet. Very little time wasted that way.

redding dies would be my first purchase

-The S series nk die is nice but its a bit of a pain and a lot of extra cash that only comes into play far down the line when precision loading (S series allows you to size very precisely for neck tension) Its good to have but a standard redding nk/FL is fine

-The bullet Seating die, buy a competition seating die with the micrometer. It makes a world of diferance, it practicaly eliminates run out because the entire case is supported when you insert the projectile.

this would be my #1 recomended piece of kit

-wilson/sinclair case trimmer.... I've literally tried them all; RCBS, lyman, lee, Redding. I realy like the redding one its very precise in compared to the rest, but the sinclair one is far better and easier to use. the way the sinclair case trimmer holds the case does not allow it to move at all making for a perfectly straight rim, and does not allow for misalignment of the rim that can happen on other brands (resulting in longer and shorter cases) .

-hornady concentricity gauge, the other brands are fine, but the hornady one lets you fix the problem on the tool... very handy and time saving.

-Case measurement tools:
-prescription MIC set from RBS is incredibly handy to have;it lets you headspace cases, find your land seating depth, and measure land seating distance on finished rounds.
-Head space gauges, lets you check your gun and check your tools
-Calipers; measuring everything, you need to have these

Case prep....
I don't like the case prep centers, I sold mine, I find it was faster and less of a hand work out using a 1/4 cordless driver and the lee case holder. I can zip through 100's of cases in no time and get nice perfect burless rims.

Hi guys,
I followed your advices but I think 800$ won't be enough...lol

Here's what bought or order so far:
Hornady comparator kit
Hornady OAL gage
RCBS Case Master Gauging tool
RCBS Chargemaster combo
RCBS bullet puller
Lee Universal decaping die
Lee Collet neck sizing die
Forster micrometer seating die

Now I still have few questions, with the setup I already have should I go with the Redding body die, regular FL die or the Redding S bushing die?

What do you guys think of the Frankford Arsenal Platinum Prep Center?

Thanks

I did a lot of trial and error with different FL dies.

The S series are only worth the cash if you plan to do bolt action reloads you insert one at a time. The s series dies let you set the neck tension within 1 or 2 thou under the bullet size so it holds... but puts very little pressure on the bullet for more consistency . Completely unacceptable for firing in a semi or from the mag in a bolt action (you risk stoving the bullet into the case). Its also a pain to set up, you have to stay on top of your neck thickness and turn necks, change the bushing out as required. the only caliber I ever bothered with it was .338 LM.

Stick with the normal redding FL die until you jump into the "next level" of reloading (if you ever even go that far, its a lot of cash fo the tools to get there). for the $50 it cost you will be able to get $40 back if you decide to move up to "S" serries

Body die.

As for prep centres, whatever floats your boat. I do like the poster above said. Multiple tools that I've found to do the job better than the prep centres and for much less cost.
