Just bought a lightly used Savage 10FP from Epps.It has the Choate Ultimate sniper stock on it Holy crap is it heavy. What stock options are there for this.Im looking for an accurate stock thats not too heavy for hunting.Dave.P.S if you have a stock and want a Choate Im open to offers.Dave

Is it a single stack box mag or staggered feed box mag?

And the choate is not going to be the heavy part. The barrel is where all the weight is. The varmint contour barrel is not meant for walking through the trees with. Does the gun balance when you place in on one hand around the front action screw.

What will happen if you get a light stock, say a duramax or a savage take off with the right barrel contour is it will be so barrel heavy that you won't be able to keep it on target well in a standing shooting position.

In a savage SA your stock options are
Bell and Carlson
HS Precision
McMillian
Boyds Laminate
Richards Microfit Laminate
SharpShootersSupply Laminate
Savage Take off stock

Although the only ones that would be much lighter would be a synthetic Savage take off, maybe the B&C and HS.

Check out Robertson Composites ,they make a bunch of different fiberglass stocks for target shooting and hunting. They are located in Nepean Ont .their ph# is 613 228 7543
they have a web site as well.

Ian does not inlet for Savage. I just asked him yesterday actually. The only light stock will be a Savage take-off. At least you could swap the stocks, one for hunting and one for shooting off the bench. A Savage take off should only run $75 or so.
