Well a picked i T3 lite in 6.5x55 at wholesale sports in langley .. when i got home and opened the box there was no owners manual papers nothing, just the rifle and sling mounts ? also the bore was kinda dirty for a new rifle? i know they are test fired but it took 10 patches to get it clean? well im thinking these bastards sold me a returned rifle ! Now the issue im having with it , i cant close the bolt with some brands of factory ammo like winchester and federal ? i dont want to force it too hard, the hornady and S&B chambers fine ? first i thought that this ammo had too much OAL and the bullet was contacting the lands making the bolt not able to close ? but the S&B has the most OAL of all 4 brands and it chambers fine ? from looking at the brass of the rounds i tried to chamber it seems there is a scuff on the neck of the case indicating contact ?? any thoughts ?

Look on the inside of the chamber. A lot of new tikka's have been caked with blueing salts in the chamber which don't allow the bolt to close. If that's not the problem, bring it back and get a new one with a manual.

maybe the Hornady and S&B are made on the right sizing of the swedish 6,5x55 while the Winchester and federal maybe are made from a 30-06 cartridge case ...

if you take the S&B and a Winchester you ll see a slight difference between the two cases ...

all the best.

i would bring it back, sounds like a lemon to me,

interesting point above tho i have heard that the remington and federal 6.5 sweede brass uses 30-06 size case head instead of the EXACT dimensions of the origional 6.5 ammunition, i know S&B uses properaly sized brass to the origional specs i use it in my AG42 and it shoots great, clean and accurate.

i wonder if the tikka has a tight chamber and doesnt like the ALMOST perfect sized brass?

regardless you shouldent have issues with a brand new rifle take it back and try to get another one, hope you can keep your choice in 6.5x55 sweede its really a great round!.

Pull the extractor, see if it seems stiff. The shell might slide all the way into the chamber, but if the extractor has trouble to grab the casing, its going to give you the trouble of closing the handle.

Either way I would take it back, and exchange it for the same rifle because a T3 that functions properly, is a great gun. Every manufacturer has a dud every now and then.
