Just bought a Toz 17. What should I expect from it?

I'm particularly curious about what ammo is the most accurate in it and if it is accurate at all!

That's the kinda response you were looking for isn't! I don't have experience, but if someone doesn't come along to help try Rimfire central, lots of info there.

Never met a TOZ rifle that liked Stingers.
Differing chamber dimensions will create ugly fired case bulge in the case web area.
Remington Vipers or Edit: Remington Yellow Jackets (1400 fps) is about the hottest mine could handle yet still be reliable and gopher level accurate.
And if you desire to buy/shoot Aguila 60 grain SSS this rifle can maintain tree squirrel accuracy up to about 60-70 yards with this ammo.
However your ramp sighting will have to register almost 90 meters to get 55-60 meters onto the target.

I love mine. It shoots extremely well and doesn’t seem to be picky with ammo. It’s probably the last 22 I’d ever sell.

I had a TOZ-17-01 quite a few years ago. In spite of typical Soviet-era fit and finish it shot quite well all things considered.
Not a finesse kinda rifle, but very effective nonetheless.
Magazines are near impossible to find, but I'm told Mossberg ones will fit with minor surgery.
