Well im not doing a review or anything like that, but for anyone on the fence about buying a newer versa max i would recommend it.

I've been looking into buying one for a few months now, but ive always been kinda hesitant due to there being some negative things in the forum about them. But then again the only reason ive been still interested in them is because there just as many good things as well.

So while cruising cgn, i saw dante sports had a irresistible deal on one, thought about it for a few days and went ahead and bought it. I pretty much bought a duck blind mossy oak for the price of the sportsman version, with no tax and free shipping. And that comes with nice fitted case and four extended choke tubes.

Long story short, i took it out today and ran various loads through it with out a single issue. This includes steel shot and lead target loads. Everything form Kent fasteel, winchester bb and their el-cheapo target loads, federal target loads, and challenger target loads. So alot of low powder 2 3/4 with no problems. If i had to complain about something, it would be that the forestock seems kinda loose for a higher end semi, but not enough that it bothers me either.

The other problem i have is that i pre-ordered a 2019 browning silver shot show special, and will have to see which one i can shoot with better for waterfowl season. When checking them out at various gun stores, i always was able to shoulder the silver better then any other gun, but the versa max was a close second. So i guess ill wait till it comes in and have to spend an afternoon shooting clays to see which one i can shoot better.

Should be fun!

I bought myself a Versamax Sportsman a year ago and love it too. For the forearm I shimmed it with one of those sticky rubber bumpers for furniture feet right where it meets the reciever. Solid as a rock now. Was my only complaint with mine.
