I am very excited that I now get to look at two forums on CGN!

I just picked up (as in paid for and waiting) a Tavor 2.5 from a fellow CGN'er. I am new to these new fangled semi autos so I will surely be hitting this forum often for tips.

The plan is to throw a cheap Bushnell Red Dot on top for now before I decide what optic I really want on it.

Buy lots of ammo. I would recommend a higher quality red dot to start out with. You spent a large chunk of money on a quality gun and are going to put a disposable site on it. Spend more money on a starter site. So you can put it on your second black gun when you find the optic you really want for your tavor.

Nice pick.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with a Bushnell red dot, the Tavor isn't exactly punishing to optics.

Also a good pick on the rifle because the Tavor doesn't need anything out of the box, except maybe a trigger (very arguable.) There are some neat upgrades hitting the market tho.

Congratulations!! Excellent choice!!

Congratulations! Now you have to start researching mags: Beowulf mags, AR-15 pistol mags, etc... And look for bulk ammo to cut down unit prices to about $0.50 a shot if you can. Fun fun fun times! :)

I got my 3 C-Products 50 Beowulf mags in the mail today. They seem pretty nice and if the mail man is good to me I will be out there on Friday running some rounds through it.

I plan on a Bushnell TRS 25 for now until I get the funds for an Elcan Spectre (I know they are not the best but apparently they hold up well enough).

Went out to the range today and ran 60 rounds through it. I got the TRS 25 zeroed up and tried a few with the iron sights. Shoulders nice and feels natural. The trigger is not the worst thing I have felt but it will be replaced with a Tav-D trigger pack next month.

Everything seems comfortable with the Tavor, I don't come from AR background and I have a feeling that is why it seems OK. Accuracy also seems good so I don't know why people complain about that. If I want to shoot sub-MOA I will use the right tool.
