They claim that there is no record of my re-registration in 2002. The guns are still in the old system, but they have "no record" of the re-registration into the new system.

It sounds like they are using the "we lost it" defence.

If you don't ask, you won't know.

Luckily I still have copies of this paper-work, including the confirmation that they mailed me...

Check it out before noon Friday & Wed, Thurs, Fri next week.

Regards
D

Story changed again, they must be reading this??.... already got a call back. 15 mins later

Lee Enfield: Same thing happened to me. I also keep all my records, I am anal that way and thank goodness I am. I bought my 12(6) in 1990 well before the feb 1994 ( I think) deadline. I bought another 12(6) last year and when I phoned they said I didn't have a 12(6) grandfather status. I said "Pardon me" I said I have in my hand the orig. green 303 slip from when it was registered in 1990. Then they said "I didn't register it under the new law". I again said I hold in my hand the confirmation letter dated oct. 2002. "We don't have that in our system" and furthermore you are not allowed to posses restricted weapons because you haven't passed the course. Well I lost it then and demanded to talk to there manager. When they finally got on the line after a 15 minute Hold pattern, the flunky basically towed the line with what the other person said. I asked for there fax number and the woman's name "Mary" and I said I will send a notorized copy of my course completion, my green registration form, your confirmation of the new registration and I will phone in three days to confirm that you received the forms. I sent them reg. mail for next day service and when I phoned she basically said I could have the new 12(6) pistol. Everything was fine until I bought another 12(6) and you wouldn't believe it but they said the same thing as before. You can imagine I was warm under the collar. I again asked for a supervisor and this young sounding thing came on the phone, I told here everything that I said and did with "Mary" and asked if she could change it so that I never run into this again. She says "Sure no problem" I heard about 20 seconds of typing on the phone and said my new license will be in the mail today and I shouldn't anymore problems. Problem solved. Where is all our money going that is supposed to be high tech and state of the art registration? I wonder how many other people will go thru the same crap, especially when they have mailed notices for people to turn in there 12(6) pistols before dec.31 if you were not grandfathered.

My tinfoil hat is tightening...I would think that in the future they can use these "mistakes" as an excuse to say that you were in non-compliance of the regulations.

This might not be the best route, but one could always tell them, after they refuse to agree with you, that if they dont have a record of the 12(6) pistol you have in your hand then "wonderful, I guess I don't have anything to fear with you guys coming to confiscate it either as technically it does not exist on your computer...Thanks".

The system is rife with mistakes...and chimps.

I,ve got a 3 ring binder, (one of the 3 inch ones) I keep every single piece of communication with them.
Anal? yes, prepared, yes, but if they com'a'knockin' I wont be a' sweatin'.
Merry Christmas to all. Gunmedic.

My file in the filing cabinet is probably 2 inches thick at least, and to go one step further, I have photocopied every single piece of paper and keep the copy's off site.

Sadly..after being told they have no record of me re-registering my handguns after C-68 came into affect..I threw away my copy in a "weak moment".

Giant size freezer bag of paperwork, two actually, one is all copies. Whenever I'm asked for anything from any authority figure, I just toss trhem the copy bag and say "Here you go, dig in". Always worked so far (and yes, KEEP EVERYTHING!!!). These are beaureaucrats, they live and die by the printed record, nothing else matters. - dan

The "Sad Truth"

The sad truth is that the only reason that there is a "CFC" is so that they can confiscate our firearms in the future. You can bet they won't have any trouble finding info when they are knocking on doors! Vote Conservative.. ..convince a Liberal to vote Conservative....may be a big task but try.....
