Just made the plunge and decided to enter the world of AR's. Started with the POF P415 shown below... Any suggestions from the AR vets on where to go? Optics, upgrades, etc? Thanks in advance!

I'm more familiar with an XCR but welcome to the club either way....I would stay just start out at the range get a good feel for the rifle decide what you like and don't like and then bring any questions or concerns here then the founts of knowledge will flow....good luck and just have fun with it

Congrats !

Just shoot that things and enjoy the moment.

I recommend an Aimpoint Pro for optic if you shoot inside 100 yards.

Have fun !

+1 on the BCM charging handle.

You can't go wrong with Eotechs or Aimpoints. Just a matter of preference. I couldn't decide so I've got rifles both, lol

Add a Raptor ambi Charging Handle. :)

If you're shooting out mid-long range, you can go with 1-4x optics. If you're doing more close up shooting you can go red dot like an Aimpoint or Eotech and add a 3x magnifier if needed. If you want a nice challenge, shoot iron sights.

Congrats BTW!

After many builds this is what I call mandatory. Magpul Moe grip.norgon ambi mag release. bad ass ambi safety. Raptor charging handle.curved trigger guard.geissele ssa. Troy buis.str stock. Enjoy!

All this and a Geissele trigger...

I really like the idea of the Eotech with a magnifier. I think I will try this route first. As for trigger upgrades, I have heard that the triggers on POFs are amazing and dont really need to be changed out. I guess I will find out this Saturday at the range. Anyone know where I can get some Pic rails to bolt onto the handguard? Also want to get a VTac foregrip as their looks go well with the handguard. All great points here so far! Keep em coming. Definitely a huge help for someone starting out.

Also... is there a standard AR toolkit I should get (as well as any other essential cleaning stuff) for cleaning/maintenance?

OK. So after spending some time looking at things I went with a Vortex Viper PST and a PEPR mount. Will post pics of the progress once they are mounted. Again... anyone know of a good AR tool/cleaning kit as well as where to buy metal rail sections to put on the underside of the handguard? I have a VTac stubby foregrip that I want to try on but I need to bolt on a Pic rail section as the one on the end of the handguard is too far away (will likely put a bipod there)...

That ^ pretty much sums it up, plus a 1-4 optic. :)

1. Get a big can of ammo.
2. Put some iron sights on it. (They're not called "battle sights", all sights on that gun are for battle!)
3. Shoot, learn
4. Then build the gun around your hand/head placement and handling techniques
