Whats the stick for in my magazine. I heard it sliding back and forth in there its a wooden stick. Do I need it? Or was it just something protective they put in when shipping? I have a 12 guage mossberg 88 security.

It's a plug to limit mag capacity.....some hunting regulations (duck hunting for example) require a plugged magazine.
If you have 2 they make good chopsticks. ;) :p

Cheers

Yes he is serious. I don't know about the laws elsewhere(and I'm a little rusty on the ones in B.C.) but if you are hunting ducks and other migratory birds, you have to have your magazine plugged so it will only accept 2 rounds in the tube (doesn't matter if your mag can hold 4, 6 or 8 rounds, etc). It is a rather simple procedure to take off the magazine cap and take out the plug. If you ever go out hunting with it you simply put the plug back in and you are good to go.

Also Bear Defence is not considered "hunting" persay (maybe in Ontario), and neither is the trap/target range, so I'd not worry about having the stick in...just tuck it away in case you end up migratory bird hunting someday, also leave the 2 little rubber rings on the stick.

Also I seriously doubt that you will need to hit something with more then 6 slugs...If you do then it prob' is a Rhino, and not a Bear. :D

Congrats on owning a crazy 88, I love mine. :)

BTW don't forget you can load your first round through the eject port right into the chamber after opening the action, then close the action and fill the Barrel Mag' with the other five...saves a step if you are in a hurry (shows it on page 5 of the manual). Don't forget safety on, and finger out of the trigger guard.
