Hey guys,

Just got myself a nice litle Remington 597 , 22 Win Mag caliber to use as a trappline gun ... can't wait to fire a few rounds this week-end. Thanks to all of you that replied to some of my questions and shared your knowledge to help me select my new toy.

Has mentioned on another thread ... That little 22 mag shoots perfect.

Half inch grouping at 75 yards ... 50 rounds fired and not one jam, I'm really pleased with it ...

It's me again

I was wondering wich ammo to get for my 22 mag ... I got 2 boxes of Winchester SuperX 40 gr Jacketed hollow point when I picked up my rifle at the shop but I would like to know which is the best, most consistent and accurate ammo?
 
...JP my man if that winchester ammo you bought with the rifle is grouping half inch at 75 yards and giving you no grief in the feeding department I would say you've got some decent ammo already! ;)

It just feels perfect, I don't know which model you have ... Mine is a 22 mag dressed in black all over ... she's a beauty
 
... a great little gun for the money IMHO. Post some pics of yours if you can JP. Do you plan on hunting with it? Did you mount a scope or is it irons?
I just have a 22lr model for plinking to 50 yds mostly, but maybe I can convince the boss [wife] that a .22mag is a must have :D I really like the sound of what yours is capable of at 75yds. How much $ does a small box of .22mag go for anyways? Here's a pic. 597 on the right.

I've mounted a cheap scope on it "Bushnell rimfire 3-9X32" :( it seems to be stable but time will tell ... I plan to get a better glass eventually but I guess it will have to do for now ... I'll change it when some $$$ available.

I got a good deal on the kit $430 scope included before taxes. The ammo I got was "Winchester SuperX 40gr." $7.99 for 50 rounds. There was also CCI ammo available for $12.99 but they were 50gr. ... maybe a bit heavy to get good distance.
