This evening i recieved that magical slip in my mailbox informing that a package has arrived. My 1st restricted a sig 226. Everything is great but...
The gun I bought is supposed to have a SRT trigger. When I follow the breakdown procedure in the manual, it states that the gun will need to be decocked to remove the slide. My slide comes right off with no need to decock. To me this means, there is no SRT.

As this is my first SIG (and 1st restricted) I have now way of knowing if the slide of a 226, with the SRT trigger, will come off without decocking. I'm hoping there are a couple of knowledgeable folks with experience with both triggers that can let me know. As well, is there any other way to confirm that I have and SRT on my 226?

Thanks.

What model is it? New or pre-owned?

You could just check the reset and see how long it is. Regular SIG's feel like about 1/2'', SRT's, considerably shorter.

Why does everyone want to confirm they have an SRT installed??

Pull off the slide & look at the sear. If it's got a considerable arm sticking out to shooter's right, it's an SRT sear. I'd find a picture, but you've heard of Google, right?

Don't worry about the decocking. It doesn't tell you anything.

thanks for both the friendly and not-so-friendly replies. From your input, I've determined the gun does not have an SRT trigger. I'll call my dealer tomorrow to get it sorted.

An easy way to determine if you have the SRT installed is to do the following:

-ensure firearm is unloaded
-pull the trigger and hold it to the rear
-rack the slide partially - enough for it to reset
-slowly release the trigger

If your Sig has the SRT, it should reset almost right away once you start releasing the trigger.

Dude sounds a little wound up. Understandable, but unnecessary.

That's why I gave him the points. Too bad about the deduction.

For understanding, you shall be awarded 400 Internet Pointz & and 1/2 of a CGN Goat!

This thread has devolved in a very entertaining manor. As it has been pointed out thousands of times...

Acm FTW!

Context is lost in the interwebs.

Thick Skin is required at the door...

1- All Sig Enhanced Elite come with SRT.
2- Some earlier SRT pistol needed to be decocked to remove the slide; I've personally never encountered that.
3- SRT Sear has an addition "arm", non-SRT does not.
