Just brought this beauty home from Epps the other day. My first M14 ever. Came with a 5/20 and a 5/5 mag, and its in a real USGI wood stock. Bore looks excellent. Haven't had a chance to shoot er yet, and probably wont for a couple weeks but here it is anyway.

Anything in particular to look out for with these Norinco M14's? Should I expect good accuracy?

Heres a pic

I love mine!!! make sure you clean and grease her up good before you take it out. From the looks of it there is alot of M14 gurus on this site.......On a side note Im new to this site is there someething im missing with the search fuction.......nothing seems to show up

Nice bangstick! Like bang308 said, read the stickys above in this forum & ENJOY! Oh ya, can't beat the deal CanadaAmmo has on ammo for this beast...

Cheers
Jay

Now that we can get wood stocks up from the US with ease due to the new ITAR rule which was implemented Monday 7/8/13 (it raises the US export limit to $500 from $100), we should be seeing a lot more wood stocked M14s in Canada. Great purchase. A Turner leather sling would complete this picture. Here's a photo of mine with my Scout Hand Guard in flat dark earth. She's wearing a sling now.

Those wood stocks look great. Accuracy should be 3" to 4" with Norinco surplus. Many of us on this board are chasing small groups with various success. I've heard of some folks getting consistent 1" groups but have never seen it in person. My rifle just shot its first sub-MOA group with reloads but I think this was a fluke.

I found that barrel temperature has a huge impact. Mine shoots best hot and dirty.

Enjoy your rifle, tweaking is half the fun.

Wow , what a beauty !!

Should be a real good shooter .

I did not see that one , good catch !!

I got the black plastic stock ........ :(

I just got mine from Epps yesterday and today I dressed her all up .

Great score , keep us posted on how she shoots ..

Opps ... forgot the pic

Thanks guys! I really like the classic look of the full length M14 with the USGI stock. A leather sling and bayonet are in the near future! I also ordered a case of that 7.62 NATO from CanAm, so I can feed this thing affordably. I really do wish we could have C.A surplus M14s though. But I cant complain about this one, I only paid 399.

Hightailtracker, that's a great looking M14 too!

Boyds has not raised the limit on their export yet...waiting for them to sell their walnut stock up here is killing me.

LOL :)
By my reckoning , that's number 3 now. You got it bad eh.
Keep snatching up the older ones and you wont go wrong :)
How does the 07 compare to the 09, wear wise and dimensionally?

LOL ,, Your right ,, 3 now ,, 2012 NIB , 2009 , 2007 <(with wood stock ) the last 2 are in excellent condition , lightly used and very well cared for thanks to a couple
of my fellow CGN members!

I will be doing exactly that , compare the 3 for , fit, finish and differences and put a post if you think people would be interested ?

So far one thing I have notices all these M305 need to have shim kits installed to get a good fit . I have removed the shim I made from Stainless steel wire and peened the shoulder with great results on the 2012 . The idea of peening the shoulder can for one of our esteemed CGN members who has forgotten more about the m305 that I could ever learn , good thing told me about peening as I would not thought of it as a permeate fix , lol new bee's eh .

for accuracy most people i know are dooing 2-3 inch at 100 meter with open sight and Norinco ammo. So for sure can be better with scope and consistant quality ammo
