Well, As much as I love it, Im not sure. should I keep this?

How rare are these? It's an underwood..
It's got "Underwood 6 43" on the barrel..
with "US carbine .30 cal m1" and "Underwood" markings on it.

Is this a keeper?

if its worth something I'll make it my new closet queen. 5 mags. how much?
Not sure weather to post it in EE - someone stop me?

"...weather..." It's currently raining.
It's definitely worth some money. Much more Stateside than here though. And no you can't take it there to sell.
It has had parts put on that don't match a '43 carbine. The bayonet lug and the flip sights for example. The downside is that it's restricted(the mags themselves are evil if not pinned to 5 rounds) and a pain to be able to shoot. You can't hunt with it and you'd have to have the ATT to go to a range.
"...closet queen..." That's where mine lives and it's not going anywhere.

Well I would be interested in the markings of the flip sight, bayo lug, and on all the internals. Any stamps on the stock, in the sling well, under the handguard? Marking on the oiler, sling?

It wouldn't still have a flip sight after going through rebuild and getting its bayo lug, so that sight has been 'reaquainted' with the receiver at some point not long ago.

Thanks for the help guys! This is all new to me!

The lug is stamped with what looks like "EMO"
The clamp thats at the very end of the barrel is stamped "MMO or MMQ"
The front sight mounted on the barrel has a marking of "RIA"

There is also a "u" or an "O" stamp on a lot of parts along with the little flame like icon near the trigger

Does that help?

Would I be asking for too much to trade this for an AR15 sp1,2? or is that a low ball?
thanks.

As nice as your carbine is, I don;t think it's worth anything like AR15 SP! SP2 money. Those Ar's start at $800 (at best) and go up from there. I doubt your carbine is worth even as much as $500. Just one man's opinion.

I agree with Claven, someone may pay $500 for your carbine. Personally I would pay 300 for it, but like with all things, it depends on whether you want to sell it and how bad.

In regards to the markings, the MMQ barrel band is standard post war stuff, the front sight is as well.

If you have lots of 'U' stamps on things, those will be Underwood marks, some may be U with another letter, which would have been another maker working for Underwood. The little 'o' with a flame coming out the top is the US Ordnance Bomb. Is that stamped on the wood or the metal trigger housing?

M1 Carbines are like a box of cracker jacks, you never know what mix of parts your going to get. Fun!
