I have just recieved my extractor from Ellwood Epps , the gun itself is longer and larger that I had expected , but still very nice , wood could be a bit hardier but it is Chinese made. I decided to clean off some of the Cosmo from it and placed a shell into it , the extractor did not initally pick up the casing but after a bit more cleaning and fiddling , it did end up working but the bolt is very difficult to put into the lowered "fire" position . Any ideas on how to free it up

Did you clean out the bore, and chamber area? Did you get all of the packing grease out of the bolt? have you cleaned off the locking lugs, and the locking lug recesses? I would suggest not firing the gun until you have done so.
Cleaning out the barrel is self explanatory; there is plenty of info on how to do this. To clean out the chamber you can use your cleaning loop with a large piece if cloth on it, soaked in varsol or lacquer thinner; place it into the chamber, and turn the rod until clean. When your pulling the rod out, stop at the locking lug recesses, and turn the cloth into these as well. To clean the bolt, put varsol or lacquer thinner into a small container, dip the bolt in, and scrub off with a tooth brush. Do not take the bolt apart unless you're absolutely sure you know how to do so (don't forget that you also have to re-assemble), and don't get any varsol or lacquer thinner on the stock.
