Gonna be a good year boys!

License arrived in the mail a few days ago just in time for the first range day of the year! Picked up 700 rds of target load at Cabelas for 7.20 a box which seemed like an amazing deal (was it really?)

Now I just have to resist buying a B gun....

Have a good season and looking forward to getting in to this amazing sport!

Welcome to the shotgun shooting sports ...

$7.20 is a good price, if that includes the taxes.

Don't be in a hurry to buy a target shotgun ... shoot lots of different guns and find one that fits you properly and is designed to shoot your game of choice.

Tax in was 7.56 with free shipping. Right around 30 cents a round tax in. Anything local for me carries 15% sales tax (quebec) hence why this looked good.

Luckily my club has Silver Pigeon's for rent at 25$/Day. Great deal but it's the only weapon they have available for rent. Well see if I can venture elsewhere and find other rentals to try over the summer.

In SW Ontario, we are lucky to have Hummason's and Lawry's close by and we can buy the cheaper shells at $65 to $69 per flat plus tax.

As Falconflyer said, you will be able to shoot other guns that belong to people that you meet at the range. Your local gun shop should allow you to try out anything used that you might be interested in purchasing.

also SAIL in Cambridge also has flats for $69 closer drive for me. apparently they will price match Lawry's but I have not tried it yet.

You're going to find breaking clays addicting. 700 shot shells is less than 3 days for me so I buy in bulk and reload the sub gauges. If you start with a B gun you'll never regret it, which B gun is right for you is something you'll only figure out after trying them.

Not sure where you shoot in Montreal but if you're ever in the Ottawa area you're welcome to join me at Stittsville where you can try several different makes & models of guns and try skeet, trap & 5-stand.

Ljutics are beutiful guns, it's too bad they're so ugly. :d I'm still trying to get my P gun to do what I want every time. The last thing I need is another trap gun to train.

Not sure if anyone would believe me or not but I know of a L gun with a million rounds or more on it.

The most important thing in clay shooting is a gun that fits, try as many as you can before buying and don’t buy a gun based on its cost or B.S. social status. I regularly out shoot most guys at my club with 12 thousand dollar Or more guns and I do it with a Ithaca pump made in the early 70’s, If you want a over under you can’t go wrong with a Browning, as long as it FITS!!

The Olympic shooting school over in Asia reportedly has an Mx8 with over two million rounds through it, that would be a P gun for those not in the know.
Also, the US Army skeet shooting school had an Mx8 that had over 1 million rounds through it several years ago. I don't know if it's still going or not but last I read they didn't want to get rid of it.
