I just received my sks from Milarm, which by the way I'd ordered yesterday and received today  , and after taking the thing completely apart and de-cosmo'ing it, I need to know where to lube it. Should I put any oil anywhere near the gas system, keep it bone dry? What about the bolt and firing pin assembly, lube em or keep them dry? Anything else I should know about, I'm also a little concerned over putting the firing pin in the correct way, any trick to this?

On a side note I was quite pleased with the service, over the phone, that I got from Milarm. Shipping was quite cheap for a gun and two crates of ammo (85$), and insanely fast (for the gun) as it got here in a shade over 24hrs. I'd reccomend them. :D

Gas System -- Bone dry .

Bolt -- Outside _only_

Firing Pin -- No . When you shake your bolt your FP should freely rattle inside .

Reasembling Firing Pin -- I mark the top with a pencil _before_ disasembly . That way I know which way is up .

Hope this helps ,

Welcome to the club!

The firing pin can only go in one way and still move back and forth. If you put it in wrong, it wont be flexible. If you look in the side hole it should be fairly obvious which way is up... try it, you'll see...
Is it one of the 0400### ones like mine? When do I get to see it?!? maybe we can have an SKS shoot off?

Serial number isn't in the 0400### range, it's in the 130###x range, factor identifier is the oval with 9696 in it. Got it from milarm. It's all de-cosmosed and put back together, but this stock still has some residual cosmo smell that doesn't seem to want to leave. All ready to shoot....but the ammo is still a couple days away. Milarm shipped it using loomis which is supposedly about 4 days shipping. The rifle got here in 24 hours but the ammo will take 4 days, go figure. I've got a gun to shoot but no ammo to shoot it :x .

To get the cosmo out, you should leave your stock out in the sun, the heat will sweat out a ####load of cosmo. Even better is ovencleaner, but then you need to refinish your stock.... At least so I hear, picking mine up this week :D
