Just got PAL and want to buy a .22, need some opinions please!

Toz-78 from Armrus is a good deal. It comes with 4 mags, 2/5rds. and 2/10rds. I added a Williams FPGR receiver peep sight and I can blast golf balls easily rapidfire at 25 yards standing and 50 yards sitting legs crossed. Standing at 50yards I can still hit them but not everytime. This is with cheap ammo and I'm an OK shot. It's nice and light and the front sight works well with the rear peep sight. I should buy another one just for spare parts and extra mags!
Best to phone Armrus if you want one they are on sale for $100.00 right now, http://www.armrus.com/e_about.php

SIR mailorder has the williams FPGR #500725 /$71.99
Another nice thing about non semi auto rimfire is you can use CCI CB long ammo that is really quite if you want to shoot without disturbing neighbors.

Hey All,

Well as I said, I am back and with 2 more pages to read. Wow. I never expected this many replies but I seem to forget this is a very ative forum.

Ok first, I am getting a Bolt action rifle but not as my first gun, same goes with a shotgun. I plan on getting a .22 first, then after a few times at the range, I am gonna get a shotgun (I was accually looking at the Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun) and after I shot the shotgun a few times, I was going to buy a 30-06.

2nd, I am wanting a semi-auto for the .22. I know it could be dangerius but thats why i took the saftey courses to be able to handle a gun so I should be ok. So your saying I can get a 25 bullet clip and that be legal for the shooting range or when hunting?

3rd. I am going to look more into the Ruger. I am going to go to The Bass Pro shop and talk with them there and see what they think. I do want the gun to be accurate but I don't need to be able to shoot a penny 1000 yards away but I would like to be able ot hit an animal like 50 yards away with ease. My friend uses a 410 for partrige and he says a .22 is a good gun for them so I am gonna trust him. If it's not, I will always have my shot gun and if a 12 gauge is too much for it, I can get a 410 or a 20 gauge later on in life.

So I want to thanks all of you again who helped me. I am going to look furthar into it and I will see what I buy. Atleast now I am in the right direction as before I didn't even know which .22 gun was decent.

Thanks again

K98's got a point... Buy the TOZ 78 now and wait for a pimped out 10/22 to show up on the exchange forum. It will make the wait easier and you won't rush into anything.

You really can't beat the 10/22. Best general purpose rimfire shooter out there. Tonnes of options and accessories too!

I own a Ruger 10/22 and it's one of the best firearms purchases I've ever made. I'd skip the carbine model: I have a Butler Creek folding stock that's comfy and makes the rifle plenty convenient size-wise.

A Butler Creek Hot Lips or Steel Lips 25 rnd. mag (or three!) is a must. You can also buy their very nice magazine loader later to eliminate 'thumb busting' - but this does make your gun very .22 hungry :)

10/22 are nice fun guns with lots of options. The most accurate .22 I've ever shot is my Marlin Levermatic Model 56. Check out Marlins and others on the web.

ruger 10/22-as you get more comfortable with it you can start modifying and spend as much as you want on accessories to make it more "fun"
I have no trouble with mine,very accurate+jamming isin't really a problem,just "keep it clean !!"

I know everyone suggests the 10/22 and i agree its a great gun.
Myself I shoot a remington 552 speedmaster. They are kick ass.
They can be a little on the expensive side but are a sweet little rifle.
552s are very light weight, have a nice crip trigger and are very accurate
out of the box. Another thing is they shoot and cycle in semi-auto
short, long and longrifle at the same time so you are not just stuck with LR. Mag capacitys are good too. It holds 15 LR or 20 shorts...yeah 20.
There arent any aftermarket parts for it but you wont need em.
Except for mabey a scope but i really suggest a williams peep site.
Oh forgot to mention these things dont jam at all.
Plus its a tube mag so no time spend loading clip magazines!
BTW i hate doing that

.22

Ruger 10/22 all the way. Lots of aftermarket gizmos for it and beleive me you WILL want to add features to personalize your gun. I like buying from small gun shops/dealers rather than say Le Baron. I like the personal touch and good service if something should go wrong. We must support the little guy or they will disappear.:)
