So something has possessed me to want a tavor.... But I keep seeing inaccurate?
Are we talking patterns? mini 14 size groups? Or are these just "hater" claims by xcr owners? ;)
Is it just the trigger or are there other factors at hand?

It's not supposed to be a precision rifle. It will do what it is meant to...compact, easily manipulated weapon that will hit the target reliably in adverse conditions. Who the f**k cares if it is off 2-3 inches? It will still get the job done!!! Internet posters have unreasonable expectations from service rifles.

Did I mention "precision" at any time? Did I mention hating it because I failed to hammer out groups like the guys I saw on the internet? No.
I just wanted to know a reasonable accuracy report, service rifle or not.
as for "who the f**k cares if it's off by two three inches"? I do. I could care less on paper, whatever, no harm no foul.
however, I'd take advantage of it's non-res status and have out out in the field for predator control.
All of a sudden my "unreasonable expectations" become that of wanting to not wound something and have it get away.
just my 0.02

I agree 100%, for those of us buying Tavors to take afield "off 2-3 inches" is huge. It may not matter in the mall ninja world where guns are bought for being "cool" or for looks, but those lookin for the most compact varmint semi going care a great deal about connecting with that crow or gopher at 325 yards, as the cartridge is definitely capable of it. No sense in neutering the cartridge with firearm choice for those of us not punching holes in silhouettes at 25 yards (if it's your thing, good on ya, it's just not mine and the OP's question is legitimate). Look forward to hearing from more owners myself.

With all due respect, you're apparently from Vancouver Island, the OP is from gopher/coyote country. You guys are going to put entirely different emphasis on accuracy.

As I've said before, pretty much exactly the same as my 580 series Mini-14s...anywhere from 1.5" to 4" depending on the ammo (all factory, no handloads) at 100 yards.

And it isn't the trigger either. Solidly bagged and benched there's no way the trigger is going to open groups up as much as some people claim. I never minded it on either of my two, but some people really seem to struggle with it.

No matter what, I can pretty much guarantee MOA isn't going to happen with a Tavor and cheap(ish) factory fodder/plinking ammo, but if you can live with 2"-3" all day long then you'll be more than happy with one.

I can, and do, make clean kills on rabbits and coyotes at average ranges of 100 to 150 yards.

The rifle is more accurate than me.

agreed...its not a tack driver by any means, but i can head shot small game quite easily at 100m

lots of other rifles come and go from my collection, but the Tavors will always be keepers....

i wouldnt hesitate to purchase one if i didnt already own 2. the XCR, not so much (no offence XCR guys)...

just my opinion

You have it backwards. For shooting paper sub-moa accuracy is important. For shooting coyotes 2-3" at 100m is good enough. Longer shots are gonna need a different gun. For humans which the rifle was made for shooting 2-3" at 100m is good enough out to 300m. Again this rifle wasn't meant to shoot farther than that.

I'm from the Island and currently live there but like most retired service members I've been all over this great country. Hell I lived six years in Eastern Ontario in prime yote country...Lanark County.

I've used a buddy's Tavor with the cheesey (Yeah I said CHEESEY, CHEESEY, CHEESEY) Meprolight 6MOA sight to consistently smack a 10" gong at 200m from stances. And yeah, buddy, get a new sight on the damned thing... oh yeah, you know who you are...

For the OP I will say this. How inaccurate are the tavors? They aren't. Are they good for long range varmint shooting? No. Short-medium range large varmints? Yes.

I feel like its more due to the shooter rather than the actual gun itself.

I've read from a user here (from his YT channel) than his friend managed to get 3/4 MOA out of his using an ACOG. Then again, he also mentioned that his friend competes in the national sniper match.

Either way, if I wanted an uber precise gun, id simply get a bolt gun. For everything else, I'd take the tavor.
