Finally joined the ar club. I just bought a savage arms msr15 recon and I need to get sorted out with tools to take this thing apart and keep it tidy and clean. There are a lot of options for tools but thought I'd get a few opinions on what's good to start with and what to look out for. I've done a few searches already but I'm a bit overwhelmed haha.

Cheers!
I appreciate the help.

If you're just taking it apart for cleaning, should be tool-less, you just need a cleaning kit.

If you're going further and removing the barrel or anything, then it depends on the job what you'll need. A reaction rod and barrel wrench gets you a long way, as does a set of punches and a hammer.

Welcome aboard! Be careful though these are addictive lol

Field stripping for cleaning is easy, no tools needed. There are lots of YouTube videos out there on disassembly/cleaning/reassembly

Enjoy the new toy!
