Just orderd my Mossberg 500 Persuader 3'' 12-Gauge Pump Shotgun

I haven't heard many bad things about this shot gun so I figured Id go and grab one. My buddy has one all tacked out with pistol grip and adjustable stock n stuff.. I think I will leave mine as is.

I like the 20 inch barrel its a good middle ground for home defense and sport shooting (clay shooting basically)

Again Id love to hear any little things I should know about this gun or what is max range is ect. Any little tidbits would help. Hit a few mile stones in my life so figured id reward my self ! lol

I don't know much about the mossberg. But I use an 18.5" police barrel on my 870 that I keep shotlocked for varmint and predator control. Shoots plenty straight for weasels and raccoon to chicken coop distance and with 00 I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a coyote either. It's probably a 25-30yd shot.

Well first, you bought a good solid shotgun. Some gripes with the Mossbergs: LOP is unreasonably long and factory recoil pads are ground down hockey pucks. Shortening the stock and adding a nice limbsaver, decelerator, kick eez type pad will let you run through tons of slug and buck loads without feeling like you got hit in the shoulder with a truck. The bead might be a little low for slugs, a tritium bead might be a good idea.

Yea I might switch the regular bead for some tritium bead. Its a 20 inch barrel so hopefully it goes a little farther then 30 yards. I handle the buck n slug loads fairly well I don't think I will do much to it.
