Just ordered a 10.5"!! Now Arrived - Pics!

This thread caused me to put an order in for the Spikes 10.5 Upper from Questar. I put the order in 2 weeks ago.

Was looking at the specs of the upper. Whats the difference between chrome lining versus hard chrome of the chamber/bore? Same thing?

Man, I think I should be getting a commission !! ( or at least a free poster:D). I think this makes the fourth order reported based on this thread alone!

I think the chroming you cite is one and the same and only a question of nomenclature, but I imagine someone more well versed than I will chime in

I found this chart useful:

Picked up my 10.5" upper today. Not bad considering it was mailed out last week (June 8th). I figured the postal crap would have dogged my delivery. Not so....I know where im going this weekend...to the gun range :D

Very nice rifle! Personally I would remove the old hand guard and remove the front site post and put on a 10" Larue hand guard or something similar! :)

Any new pics? range time?

Just wondering if I should get myself one........

I have had her out now for two full CQB matches plus a few hundred rounds of practice.

My experience has thus far been positive with a few minor caveats.

In terms of accuracy she seems to run well and at the CQB distances we are shooting at, I do not suspect you will need more inherent accuracy. The last two matches have been scored at 371 and 361, which includes some truly horrid pistol shooting( must practice at 25 yards, must practice at 25 yards:D ), so I have been very happy with that.

It handles very well and the length is perfect for the CQB match game.

The proprietary buffer works great. I have not had one fail to fire, fail to eject issue. I have had two failures to feed (both off a closed bolt first round) but I believe that this has been a user error in seating the mag too lightly, or not fully charging the rifle. It also cycles perfectly on my 20" upper so I will not have to change back and forth which has worked out well.

In terms of finish, I have a small chip in the anodizing, down to bare aluminum on the brass/shell deflector that occured after my second outing and there is also a small chip on the inside near the ejection port door. Neither of these effect function, however it does reveal the anodizing to be pretty thin and not that hard/durable. Please note that I use only brass cased ammo, not steel.

Aside from that last issue I have been very pleased with my purchase and for the price I think it was still a great value.
