Just picked up a Tasco Super Sniper..

How can one tell if it's one of the good ones??? Any markings I should be looking for??

The number one manf for lenses and scopes is Japanese - Light Optical.

They make lenses and parts for many big name brands.

The product I have seen coming from the Phillipines has been excellent.

Just started playing with a couple of 'upper' end scopes made in China and am very impressed. For the dollars spent, mechanicals have been excellent and optics better then the price suggests.

Times, they be a changing.

I thought I'd resuscitate this thread, because I just picked up an older used ??Super Sniper?? .

This scope looks exactly like the TASCO Super Snipers, except it has NO BRAND NAME markings, and NO COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.

Only markings I could find ...
20X42 engraved, and a small round sticker that says "Nitrogen Gas PORT"

Adjustment turrets have a WHITE UP and "R", otherwise the "bul;let impact" and the arrows are fine letters.

This scope is VERY clear, and the adjustments are still solid and precise.

Did anyone make the Super Sniper BEFORE TASCO and SWFA??

Tasco and SWFA never "made" anything. All the Super Snipers were made by Hakko, either in their Japanese plant, or later on in their foreign contract plants. - dan

You will also see "Sniper" scopes branded as "Nikko Sterling" in some parts of the world fwiw
