So I bought some wet sandpaper several months ago to polish the internals of my Ruger 10/22. I also got some Flitz a couple weeks back too. Today I finally got around to polishing it. I did the bolt in 400, 600, 800 and then flitz (didn't have higher than 800 in the multi pack I bought). It came out pretty shinny, the parts were not of the greatest quality and had some deep tool marks on it and would require lots of material removal to get it smooth as glass.

However, did the bolt and then the trigger internals. I did not do the bolt rod as I don't want to fart around with removing the spring. I still have to do the trigger return plunger sometime in the future.

The cycling of the action is so smooth now, the trigger pull is a lot crisper and also lighter than before. It was well worth the hour or two I spent doing it and would recommend doing it to yours.

I just hope she will fire :) slammed the butt bad hard as hell and no accidental firing.

You can also use fine grinding paste available from any auto shop or Princess Auto, spread it thinly onto a sheet of glass and move the parts to be polished in a figure eight

I've done a half dozen or so now. Even shimmed my stainless and changed the pins to an almost press fit. The trigger is an even 2lbs and crisp as can be. I've got 1000's down the pipe now and still going good.

Did you radius the bolt? That will really smooth out the action, then the "one hand bolt release" take 5 min with a Dremel.

How about the JB weld mod? I did the JB weld mod then polished all the internals and cut two coils off the trigger reset spring. My trigger is a crisp 2lbs now.

I still use mine for hunting every now and then, even though it is the target model :). I am extremely happy with whatever mine is now, it was somewhere around 5lbs before and is probably like 3.5 now. I guess I should jerry rig up a little thing to test the trigger pull sometime.
