Hello out there. Just accquired my first A-bolt in 300WSM. Bbl is S/S, Stock is Syn. It appears to have been shot very little. Any experiences with this rifle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Jim

Does it have the boss system? My abolt has it and I haven't really screwed around with it. You can download the settings for the boss of the browning site.

You'll learn quickly whether you love or hate the magazine system. I personally think it is fantastic, but others will argue in the reverse.

I had one in .270 and shot quite a few moose and deer. I shouldn't have sold it. Some don't like the magazine but I did. With a bit of practice it can be changed very quickly and you know for sure that it 's in. Not like some rifles where the magazine falls out after the first shot. The 60 degree bolt is really nice, too. Mine was like lightening. I think I might buy another. Congratulations on your new acquisition.

Have read some individuals spewing negative rants on the A-Bolt on US forums so don't take those to heart. Love mine - its a walnut gold medallion in 30.06. Most accurate sporting rifle I've ever owned. Cycles smooth as hot knife through butter with 60' lugs. Personally think the box mag is great. Zero issues whatsoever.

They are very accurate but have a heavy trigger. A new timney spring will fix that
The magazine system is unique and works well.
Did I mention they are accurate? Very.
Congrats

I've got a .280 rem. in stainless stalker with boss I bought new in 1993 and a stainless stalker in .260 rem. I bought new in 1998, both are moa shooters with zero problems, love the 60 degree bolt throw and the magazine system.

Have had mine for some 20 yrs now. Never any issues. Get a good recoil pad and hunt down a quality scope and thats all your going to need. A spare mag is a good thing to have if you want to put out a few extra bucks for one. In my opinion, the hinged floor plate with mag attached to it is awesome. Mine is nickel plated SS. Wrapped the barrel in cammo wrap years ago to cut down on the relection of light off it in the bush. Enjoy!

love the 60 degree bolt throw and the magazine system
X2 , one loaded mag for walking and an mt mag for in the vehicle for problem-free single loading fast.
And accurate . They don't require the tweaking to be accurate that some others (r700) need

Never looked at aBolt IIIs , how do they differ ?

Acquired one in a trade deal. [338 Win Mag] It shot very well, but the trigger was crap. No fix at the time, either.
The magazine system leaves a lot to be desired, IMHO.
Sold that rifle within one year. Ended up with another one a couple of years later.
Reminded me why I sold the first one, so it went down the road too. I will not buy another. Dave.

My rifle doesn't have the Boss system, but has a 24" Bbl which what looks like a factory muzzle brake. Don't know if I like the brake all the time, though. OK for the range, but in the field, nope. To take the brake off, I might consider lopping off the brake and leaving me with a 23" Bbl. What do you think???

Love the A-Bolt II's. Had one in 30-06 years ago (decades) and sold it (young and needed the money). I now have two, 300WM LRH and 338 WM stainless stalker. No issues at all and very accurate. I also have an x-bolt (375 H&H) which is accurate and maybe a slightly nicer trigger. Personally, I get drawn to the look and feel of the A-bolt over the X-bolt.

Good luck!

Had two, an 06 and a 280 Rem. Gave one to my son (the 06) kept the 280 cause I love 7mm cartridges. Did I mention that both were Medallions and left handed. Don't know why the complaints about the triggers, mine were fine. Maybe I'm just not as fussy. One thing for sure the triggers didn't affect accuracy which was stellar with both. The mag system takes some getting used to but I rarely have to take more than four shots so it was never an issue for me. I love the looks and the fit and feel of the rifles, they just feel good in the hand. hope you have great luck with yours.

don't know anything about that cartridge, but you should absolutely love the rifle! I am a huge fan of the mag system for more than just a couple of reasons!;)
