I'm sure my wife is going to kill me but I needed another one. I currently have an RWS 350 .22 cal and the main reason I bought it was to plink with. Big mistake. It is to long, heavy...etc. It looked so much more compact on the internet

Anyway's, that is why I went with the HW 50 as my second rifle. I plan on taking both to my cottage in about 2 weeks and shooting both for a week. Then I will sell one of them just to keep the wife happy

More later............if I'm alive.

I see you keeping your HW50S for years to come. I have one in 177, ive also had a diana 34 and a few others, due to the short barrel on the 50 i find it a much more comfortable ballancing gun. With me mine shoots 800fps so i dont loose much in comparison to the diana. Also much less twang, better trigger, nicer stock, lighter overall...etc. Personally i think the HW50s is the best overall spring rifle with the most versatility you can get. Great for small pests, and great for plinking. Mine wears a cheap tasco bantam 4x from US walmart, the small size adds to the already light weight of the 50 and a beeman brake gives me a couple more inches up front too.
Enjoy I see you keeping it, Pm or post let me know what you do

No comparison on quality between RWS and HW...........Lada/Rolls.............Harold no kits or tunning required

Hmmmm I must say I have never heard of a RWS being a LADA....Lada fun maybe. I better seek out one of these HW's

The QC has backslid at RWS bigtime it's common to find damaged seals /scored pistons and badly bent mainsprings on NIB guns.A rWS 34 I got my son from SSS in BC is so harsh I am putting a Macarri kit in it to smooth it down.It rattles so bad the stock screws won't stay tight after a dozen shots.Another $125 to make it like it should have been before it left the factory...Harold

Hmmm glad I have older model 48...... Too bad if thats the case, they were a great air rifle.

Could be BS but there's talk about Chinese parts in RWS guns. You don't see the Germans suing BAM for their copys of HW or RWS?????Odd I'd say...........................Harold

It just arrived today in the mail. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but just by holding it I know its a keeper. Has the length and the weight I initially wanted. Fit and finish is amazing. Will report back later.

Get the Sportsmatch AKA Beeman 5040 one piece mt.It comes with a stop pin and couldn't be knocked off with a hammer literally speaking.I bought mine cheaper including shipping from the UK.Too bad Diana/RWS didn't correct their flawed mounting system to something solid like this................You'll never look back....................Harold ***get the 4 screw per ring model it may be overkill but I like it......................

That's a beautiful quality air rifle, one that I plan to buy eventually. Did you buy the PAL rated, or the detuned version? Looking forward to your report.

I understand the HW50S has been discontinued for export. It's the old Beeman R-8 The "S" is the European stock "E" would be for North American profile...........Harold

So is the verdict in yet? how does the hw compare for power? does it make the Dianna seem like a lada?

HW are very nice to shoot, Diana's can be a bit rough , but they both shoot awesome. The HW guns are a grade higher in metal work, but the wood on both are great.
Hard to get better guns than British , and German.
Accuracy is just amazing. My go to for small game..
If your looking at HW, the 30 , and 50 are light, the 77 , and 97 are not, nut the last 2 mentioned, the 77 is a heavier gun than the 97. Also the first 2 are break barrel, and the last 2 underlever. I can't see a big difference in accuracy between the 2, at close range anyway, 25m...
Pellets are all pretty good, JSB,RWS, and H&N for a few good places to look.

What's the HW50 in .22 running at 600fps? I have a Hw80K.22 and it deadly accurate ,not at all hold sensitive as I was told. But a lighter unit would be nice for hiking and hunting.I may get a .177 HW 50 for pesting. As my .22 needs are about met.The HW 30 AKA R-7 is a little too weak for my needs.I have been seriously looking at the Benjamin Discovery in .22 PCP.Lots of mods coming out and maybe a .25 cal conversion for bigger critters.......................Harold

Sorry to keep you all waiting. I actually didn't shoot it until this week. :) The Diana 350 is on the out's:eek: The weight and lenght of it is just perfect. It came with chrony numbers using Hobby pellets and most were in the high 650's and a few in the 660's producing an average of 14 ft.lb

The little details are what separate it from the RWS. Blueing was amazing, the stock is nice, a little plane, I'd like to see checkering on the pistol grip but still nice. No plastic parts!!! Cocking it was a breeze, this is the rifle that I initially had in mind when I was first shopping for an airgun. It is very light and compact and like I mentioned above it still puts out good fps.......I think enough so that it should be able to take most game within reason. Accuracy is still to be determined. I didn't have enough time to fine tune it but so far so good.

All in all, I am really pleased. The perfect plinking, walking, hiking and small game rifle for me.

I will post some pic's tomorrow.

Oh if you didn't get it above, I have a nice, used very little RWS 350 .22 Cal for sale. I will post in the EE tonight or tomorrow.

Accuracy is still to be determined.

I think you will be amazed at the accuracy. With my 30 year old HW 80 I can hit a dime at 30 meters. These are true precision airguns and the last of the ones built to old world craftmanship.Herman Weirauch refused to move the factory to Turkey against his families request, because he still cares a lot about the quality. It is a nice feeling for you to know that Herman reaches for an HW50s when he desires a little plinking practice.
