Tried a new fireforming load for my new to me .22-250AI; 10grs Tite Group covered by cream of wheat to the neck, wax filled neck. Used the normal setup, heavy plastic bucket with cardboard in the bottom and an old towel around the top, was a lot louder than the old bullseye recipe... Lifted the bucket and it had blown right through punched a nice chunk out of the slate floor in the basement. Oops.

Your foot will heal, how many more cases have you done? If its loud put your ear muffs on. You must be OK you were able to type and tell us about it so we can tease you and call you BuckWheat :)
Dave

I guess I should start looking for some kind of bullet trap now, Oh and a first aid kit. I'll let you know when I find them.

This your place ? :D ;)

dont feel so bad, i was doing the same thing, making brass for the 8 mm krop. was cold as hell out, so i decided to just poke the bbl out the door of the shop, pointed skywards, and pull the trigger.
suprise....i forgot the security lamp was there, tinkle tinkle ,broken glass all over the place......what the hell i thought......then felt stupid

Ha Ha - I feel somewhat responsible for the injury as I didn't put a warning label on the rifle, or cream of wheat container.

WARNING: SAFETY FOOTWEAR REQUIRED FOR SAFE OPERATION

cream of wheat

I've been doing this fireforming practice for 25 years.
I use 700x powder for all calibres...just different amounts for each calibre.
I fill to top of the neck with the wheat ...and compress to base of neck with an alan wrench...then seal off with a tabb of polyster material....also compressed lightly with an alan wrench.
You can buy a huge bag of polyster for $5. at fabric shop
The polster is fast and simple to use....I couldnt imagine using wax !

My only attempt was with the cream of wheat , 30-30 into 38-55 did not work at all

....................Frank i used to use XMR2015 and cream of wheat with a wad of toilet paper and it worked perfect for .30-.30 to .38-55 Can't remember how many grains of powder though. 20 grains rings a bell but don't quote me.

I was planning on using crisco to plug the top. nothing hard to fly out of the barrel with any mass. Still plan to fire into a bucket with a few inches of sand in it just in case.

I've never done this but I imagine crisco will be pretty hard at the velocity it will be leaving the muzzle, save a step for col. Saunders, pre greasy chicken just bread and fry

...seems fine at first, just louder, then I felt the pain in my foot, it had blown fragments from the floor at it... Case looks great though. :runaway:
