Hey guys, just signed up for my first vent in Aylmer. I’ll be shooting in production with a savage mark 2 and a covenant 4-16 ffp scope.
I’ve been out shooting at distance a couple of times, out to 300 yards12”-20” steel and an 8” diamond at 200. I’ve made up a few other target sizes to vary size and distance. Mostly shooting prone, standing at a few closer targets. I’m planning on building a small barricade that I can practice on.
Any other tips or suggestions?
Thanks a bunch
Dave

Have fun and ask lots of questions.

Pay attention to those that shoot in front of you to see what they are doing and if it is working.

Welcome to the sport.

I’m signed up for that event as well,

I’ll be shooting my cz in the open division
Going to shoot out to 300 yards tomorrow
Have a series of steel plates ranging from 1”-10”,
made up a barricade to shoot off, have barrels to shoot off, roof top, and see what else is kicking around the farm to shoot off
And a elevated shooting house (heated!)

Any other suggestions for practice?

Sounds like you’ve got a great setup there Chris. I’m in London for a few days, where do you buy your ammo? I might try and get to Bulls eye before we leave.
Cheers.

Ken's running a PRS intro course at EESA to help new guys on-ramp quicker and make their first match go smoother.
My advise would be practice shooting from non-prone positions and dryfire! That'll help you know your equipment well before you're at the match.
Also, the better handle you have on your ballistic data, the more targets you'll hit.
I haven't been to a rimfire match, but if it's like the centerfire matches I've been to, there will be lots of guys there willing to help you out!
See you at the match.
