Hey guys, I'm seeing here on this forum and all these rifles being made into a non restricted platform and adding little tweeks to modernize it. Example the bcl102, modern varmit/hunter, and the now macabee slr.

Anyways I was thinking what if we were to make say a longer range, higher caliber, DMR like rifle (like the svd dragunov) in a non restricted status.

Now I'm just pitching ideas here but the valmet is NR so why cant we reproduce something along the lines of that?
Or
How about the cz/vz, and the recent WR762 rifle and rework it to shoot say .308 or 7.62x54r?
I know we have the svt40 but I don't feel like bubbaing it and those are starting to be scarce

I just thought I'd pitch this out there, haven't really seen any posts like it. I would really like something along those lines and too bad we can't get an and here due to people think it's scary.
 
Dragunov or any SVD variants are prohib by the name or even just by resemblance to AK. So even if Valmet will be resurrected and decide to make a clone of svd it will be prohib anyways. I think Izhmash makes hunter rifle in x54R, not like SVD but similar, however the price was around 3k and it was before sanctions against Russia in 2014.
It will take a lot of effort and money to spend on new design of rifle in x54 caliber and Dragunov himself had hell of hard time with rim of x54r cartridge to make it work reliably in 1960s. It may be easier nowadays, but I'm sure not as simple as I think.
 
Damn, so silly how the name will cause it to be prohib.
On the other hand, what about the cz/vz/WR762 platform?
Would have to rework the receiver to accept .308 and redo the Magwell as well, something that can accept ar10 mags or fn/dal ones
