 Well I am surprised to see that there are still guys having issues with the IOR scopes. Can these guys be BSing? I can't imagine it.

I was really hoping the quality issues were addressed and the product line dependable by now. Willy Schmidt is apparently the Canadian Distributor in Canada. Does anyone have his number?

Anyone on this site having issues?

Based on what I am seeing, NIGHTFORCE is still the best bang for the buck.

Take a peak at the posting....

Upon the recommendation of my buddy who ownes everything from S&B, Nightforce, Zeiss etc in the US I picked up a 6-24X50 with 35mm tube.

The glass is outstanding and the adjustments are positive and repeatable. The love illuminated MP-8 recticle . I have a S&B PMII and Nightforce NSXs and MK4s to compare with

I take what I read on the internet about IOR complaints with a grain of salt. You get the vocal minority complaining. Talk to the guys at SWFA or Bear Basin and they have lots of repeat IOR customers.

Snipershide.com is a good place to get info on IOR

The only truth to the complaining is Val, the customer service guy is not the most reasonable to deal with. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong height 35mm rings. Val had no problem replacing them but he just wasn't all that pleasant. Fortunately there is another CS guys who is way nicer to deal with and very informative. The replaced my rings for the proper height no problem.

I truely believe that Nightforce and Trijicon makes outstanding proven optics but the only problem I have ever had with scopes was a NSX that had a loose flake floating around inside from day one, and a Trijicon that had tritium illumination issues. Trijicon was a huge PITA to deal with. I haven't sent my NSX in yet so I don't know yet. It wouldn't be fair to conclude that Trijicon makes bad products just because I had problems

BTW I couldn't find Willys name or contact info either.

As far as durability, I put this scope on my 338Lapua with brake with no problems. It currently resides on my RRA Varmint though . Managed to drop the scope once even

My only beef is the goofy 35mm tube. I have a 30mm and 34mm lapping tools but no 35mm so I couldn't lap the rings. I hate oddball size tubes !

Bottom line is I will buy another IOR without hesitation. Excellent value for the $$ . The only scope I would trade my IOR for is a S&B PMII . The S&Bs are twice the money btw

Willy is in BC somewhere. Exactly where I am not too sure although I'll see if I can dig up his number.

We are looking at offering the S&B line which I am hearing is second to none, but then I would hope you get what you pay for. The 5-25x56mm looks to be too fine a combo to pass up.

I had a hunting one and sold it - never heard any complaints about it and a tactical model that sits on an M14. I did not buy it from Val. I wrote the guys @ IOR and got an answer form the manager (his name is Dan Istodor) . They pointed out that they wnted to set up a repair shop in US but the lack of trained personnel made it impossible. (read the money they would have paid them).

I had some questions and they put me in touch with the technical department. Very helpful ppl, but slow to answer. Apparently the trick is to avoid Val and buy from others ( and a lot cheaper at that). For a dealer it would make sense to contact IOR and try to get to be THE Canadian dealer. Why don't you try?

as far as the quality goes, I'm happy with them. I can see in the future some changes : lower quality lenses and better assembly. The manager told me that most of the scopes sent back were in good working condition, so they got in a form of triaje. before they were sent back to Romania. This is were things turned bad.....
