Ok tel me what I have here?
All I know it was a bring back and stock was cut to fit in soldiers pack.
It has strong rifling.
Don’t usually deal with these so have no clue on value, caliber or where it came from.
Thanks

I don't know often what im talking about, but that hasnt stopped me yet

The bolt appears to be complete but doesn't match the rest of the rifle. Here or in europe, who knows.

byf 43, maker and year. Ill guess Mauser is byf but im surely wrong.

Looks like late war end cap, welded steel no cutouts. I dont see capture bolts on the floorplates.

Kinda beat up cut ends of the stock; myself I'd mend the cut. Thats me tho.

Byf =Mauser AG Oberndorf made in 1943. Appears to be bolt miss match. More pictures of the part numbers and markings are a must for true value.

Jbmauser & canadianar will be around with more expertise mauser knowledge.

In that condition, I don't think the value is that high. if the stock was professionally repaired, that would be a step in the right direction.

Dirty birds intact, mis-matched bolt. Stock likely cut at end of war in the reception depot as prelude to destruction or to fit in kit bag. Vet rescued and take home? Stock was taped for a very long time.

I'd be a lot happier if it was all matching and original. Between the bolt mismatch, the angled duffle cut that still needs to be fixed...I don't think it's worth a ton. Maybe 1K because it's not an RC? Hoping someone who knows better pipes up.

So hard to find a perfect Mauser! There are thousands of messed with ones for every perfect one.

Not sure how much value not being an RC adds to it in Canada, US import laws drive up the price down there. You can still mail order an RC in similar mismatched condition with an intact stock for less than $700 CAD.

Is the stock original to the rifle ,check the serial in the barrel channel and the hand guard ,also it should have a waffampt 135 on the right side of the stock near the hand guard ,.check serials on all the small parts rear site ,bolt head, etc.if everything matches on the rifle except the bolt then it should add to the value .
I would estimate a value of 1000-1200 for a legit bring back.
More detailed pics of all serialed parts would help to determine value.

Yes, byf43 bolt mm Stock and handguard should be numbered in the channel. Bolt mm typically sell around RC range, and withbthat cut....who knows. Most duffle cuts are a none issue as it’s hidden behind the rear band, but visible duffle cuts are a killer....is there a good and rod?

Also please post pics of the sling and bolt cut outs in the old, and the cartouche on the side of the stock.
Also the front end of the wood and bands.

I remember reading somewhere that when soldiers were on the boat heading home their rifles had to have the bolts removed and when they got off the ship they just grabbed a bolt out of a bucket full
Could that explain the mismatched bolt?

But still, it's a bring back...

Reminds me of my Dad's friend who was Sgt in the 48th highlanders who served in Italy / Europe WWII. He told me (cause I was his closest thing to a grandchild) that when coming back to Canada. Everyone was told if caught, they would face severe prosecution for bring backs. That night there were a lot of splashes into the St. Lawrence River...

From the pictures it looks like a gloss oil finish was applied at some time, i think the finish should be matte. Cleaning rod and hood are missing. I would be hard pressed to pay 1000$ for the rifle and even then i would pass on it.
