K11 vs. K11 Carbine

I have a chance to buy a Swiss Model K11 Carbine rifle for a decent enough price. The bore is fantastic.

But.

I'm wondering if I should perhaps pass by the carbine version and continue to wait for a standard rifle instead. I don't know what I'm asking...perhaps just opinions so I can either get off the pot and buy the carbine and be happy with that or wait. For those who are tempted to answer, "Why not both?" -- one is enough -- I have other firearms priorities.

The G11 is longer and a bit heavier; the K11 is handier, and recoil is almost a non issue. I own both, and like shooting both!

I don't mind recoil -- for some reason just a nagging doubt in my head that I can't qualify.

There isn't much difference in the felt recoil, between the versions.

If you're shooting from the bench or off hand at the range, then weight doesn't matter much.

If you're carrying it around as a plinker/hunting rifle, then go for whichever handles better under the circumstances you hunt.

I have one of each and find the ''long'' rifle to be more accurate with both issue GP11 and handloads.

Both have excellent bores and when comparing, it's impossible to tell which fired case came from which rifle.

Whichever you buy first will make you want the other also.

I would say k11 is my preferred choice, very accurate light and handy. Fits in the cabinet with ease, my G11 has to go in first and at an angle to fit in. Also I just prefer the look of the k11, it’s my favourite of the Swiss rifles

The k11 is a long rifle by today's standards, the G11 is comically long. I would get the K11, unless you have your eye on a G11 in much better condition.

The G11 I find is better to shoot regularly thanks to the longer sight radius. K11 is ok to shoot but with the short sight radius and the 300m rear sight setting it isn't nearly as practical for most ranges as a K31 is.

Personally I have always preferred the longer rifles, but I am a bit of a odd ball with what I like to shoot. Can't really go wrong with either though, hard to beat them in value.

k11 would be my preference i think just because its shorter and easier to carry, better sling placement ,and so on.Diopter what do you think of the scope mounts you have on your 1889,96/11 and k11 ,they look good .

Work great.
Comes with two longer screws to replace the two original action screws.
No drill and tap. Scope rail is 3/8" 22 scope rail and uses same size scope rings.
Rail is on left side as opposed to K31 which mounts on right.
I make sure the irons are ok for windage and use the irons to align the mount with the scope windage centered. Expect the irons to be shooting about 6" high since lowest sight settings are for 300m.
They also have a left mounted diopter sight to go with it.
