k31 at local CT

K31 has the Aluminum bolt handle, K11 etc has the hard rubber (Vulcanite/ebonite or sometimes the later replacement bakelite) reddish/orangish colored Bolt handle.

$289 is still a great price!

I'm aware of the difference of the k11 and the k31. I meant the grip was fatter, maybe it's like a target model or something.
 
As mentioned above, less than $300 from a dealer is a great price as most other dealers are selling them closer to $400 each. I didn't think that CT was still selling them at that price!
 
As far as battle rifles go, there are none finer than the K31!

World Record set on 25th May, 2015 for longest shot with open sights at 2,240 yards...

Completely misread what you wrote. Not sure if the thicker grip means anything?

Sometimes there are some gems. Found a K31 at my CanTire that had Diopter Sights on it, still was priced at the regular $289.99 (few months back before they raised the prices)... Was going to buy it, but it had surface rust ALL over it, and some slight pitting... I know I could've cleaned it up, but damn... The mag was almost completely orange.

Yup.

But this K31 was going to be a wedding present for my niece and her new husband. Also, was giving them the gift the next day, and didn't want to have to clean everything up...

And seriously, it was RUSTY. Not just surface rust either.
 
Canadian Tire have been getting Privately owned, recent use K31s from their supplier.
I got one and have seen others with post war shooting competition stickers, and as mentioned, diopter sights likley installed by a private owner.
